Nails! Hard and Soak GELS
Hard gel and soak-off gel are two different types of nail enhancements used in the beauty industry. Here are the main differences between the two:
Composition: Hard gel and soak-off gel are made from different formulations. Hard gel is a thicker, more durable gel that requires curing under a UV or LED lamp to harden. Soak-off gel, also known as soft gel or gel polish, is a thinner and more flexible gel that is also cured under a lamp.
Application: Hard gel is typically applied using a brush and can be sculpted onto the nails to create extensions or overlays. It requires several layers and is built up to achieve the desired thickness and shape. Soak-off gel is usually applied as a single layer or a few thin layers and is mainly used for adding color and shine to the natural nails.
Removal: Removing hard gel usually requires filing or buffing the surface to break the gel's seal, followed by soaking the nails in acetone to dissolve the remaining product. It can take more time and effort to remove hard gel. On the other hand, soak-off gel is designed to be easily removed. It can be soaked in acetone for a shorter period, usually 10-15 minutes, and then gently scraped off the nails without significant filing or buffing.
Durability: Hard gel is known for its strength and durability. It can withstand more wear and tear and is less prone to chipping or peeling. Soak-off gel is less rigid and more prone to chipping or lifting, especially if applied in thicker layers or on weak or damaged nails.
Versatility: Hard gel offers more versatility in terms of shaping and creating nail extensions. It can be used to build and sculpt a variety of nail shapes and lengths. Soak-off gel is primarily used for natural nail manicures and pedicures, adding color, and providing a glossy finish.
Skill Level: Working with hard gel generally requires more skill and experience due to its thicker consistency and sculpting techniques. Soak-off gel, on the other hand, is relatively easier to apply and remove, making it more accessible to beginners or individuals who prefer a simpler nail enhancement option.
It's important to note that different nail technicians and salons may use various products and techniques, so there can be variations in the characteristics and application processes of hard gel and soak-off gel.
